For more information please refer to Alexander's personal page: www.alexander-denysenko.com“As Teddy Roosevelt once quoted: “Keep your eyes on the stars and your feet on the ground.” My interpretation being: let go of negative emotions that devour you, and cherish the memory of your loved one as a halo that guides you. They will always be with you, because of your unconditional love. Their memory and your love for them will surely set you free.
By setting the story in Chernobyl, I wanted to create a film not about a catastrophe or its consequences, such as death, loss and grief. I have been striving to redefine them in a highly positive way. I want to show a special view of the situation, by making a film about how unconditional love helps to overcome grief and loss. I wanted to make a film that would be a Wonderwall - something that gives strength, a sturdy foundation for hope.
Telling the story through the perspective of a young man that has all his life ahead of him, but having lost the most amazing girl in the world, he lost himself, my desire was to help such people reframe this terrible experience and take possession of their lives.
I want people to reconcile with themselves and in their hearts realize the realities of these two dissonant worlds. To help them cope with the loss of a loved one in a different light. To be inspired by what this person means to them. The love of a loved one remains forever, they will always have a special place in their heart, as they forge ahead in creating a new life. Finding this new freedom will exhilarate one, like a big breath of fresh air, every pore will open itself to this new found realization.”
Maria Matios is a decorated Ukrainian writer, MP of the Ukrainian Parliament, cultural and social activist. Her book “Sweet Darusya” has received the most prestigious state culture award as well as numerous other awards and honors and is considered to be one of the most iconic works of modern Ukrainian literature.
Maria Matios is also known for her guardianship over the people who have undergone regime persecution during the Revolution of Dignity as well as saving many lives during the war in Eastern Ukraine.
One of the biggest aspirations for Maria Matios is to cultivate Ukrainian culture. Cooperating on the realization of international artistic projects with the new vanguard, she believes in the effectiveness of this cooperation.
One of these projects, “Wonderwall”, in her opinion, can become a catalyst of cultural transformations in Ukraine. Maria Matios believes in sharing the common values with the world, this movie is expressing new perspective on the eternal themes of love, loss, and hope. The universal language and emotional soul of music, aptly speaks to the hearts of the young generation.
Vitaly Klitschko is a three-time world heavyweight champion of boxing, and is the eighth longest reigning heavyweight champion of all time. He currently serves as Mayor of Kiev and head of the Kiev City State Administration.
Klitschko’s father was one of the many brave men who participated in the clean-up of reactor number 4 at Chernobyl. He dreamed that one day his boys would become the world unified champions of boxing. A few days after Vitaly and Wladimir won all the titles, he died of cancer from radiation poisoning.
Vitaly Klitschko believes that his father helped shape him life and inspired him to support youth and future generations through the arts and empowerment to be the best in their life and help make an impact on the world. The short music film “Wonderwall” has both elements which Vitaly believe strongly in and can help support a worthy cause.
Vitaly Klitschko desire is to help support awareness of the social needs caused by cancer which is universal and transcends all borders and is something which is personal. Through the universal suffering that cancer causes, regardless of title, rank or station in life all of us are looking for hope.
He believes this film “Wonderwall” can help to further the exposure of message and goals which are aligned with his beliefs and desires.

United Nations-accredited, non-profit, international development, medical, and humanitarian organisation that works with children, families and communities that continue to be affected by the economic outcome of the 1986 Chernobyl accident.
CCI was founded in Ireland in 1991 by Adi Roche in response to an appeal from Belarusian doctors for aid. Roche, previously a volunteer in a nuclear disarmament group, received a fax in 1991 which read “SOS appeal. For god’s sake, please help us get the children out,” which inspired her to take action. That year, Roche set up a small workspace in a spare bedroom of her home and began organising ‘rest and recuperation’ holidays for a few Chernobyl children.
Over its lifetime, the organisation has grown in strength and numbers and is now the single largest contributor to Belarus and the fallout from Chernobyl. It also acts as an advocate for the rights of those affected by the Chernobyl explosion, and engages in research and outreach activities to encourage the rest of the world to remember the victims and understand the long-term impact on their lives.
To date, Chernobyl Children’s contributions exceed €105 million in direct and indirect aid. Its flagship Rest and Recuperation Programme has brought over 25,500 children to Ireland, returning an average of two years to each child’s lifespan.
Message from Adi Roche: “My life’s work has been to develop programmes that restore hope, alleviate suffering and protect current and future generations in the Chernobyl regions. CCI is founded on hope and courage: the hope that the children—one by one and heartbeat by heartbeat—will thrive; and the courage to envision and create a better world.”
